How to get a school website in Ghana, free

Why a school needs a website, the pages parents look for, and how to get one without paying a designer.

When parents hear about a school, the first thing most of them do is search for it on their phone. A school with no website, or one that has not changed in years, loses those parents before anyone at the school knows they were interested.

The pages parents look for

  • Home: who you are, where you are, and a clear way to apply.
  • About: your story, your values, your head’s welcome.
  • Admissions: classes with places, how to apply, what to bring, and an online form.
  • Fees: even a range helps parents decide to call.
  • News and events: proof the school is alive.
  • Contact: phone, WhatsApp, email and a map.

Keep it current without a web designer

Most school websites go stale because changing them means calling the person who built them. Choose a website you can edit yourself, ideally one that takes news, events and learner numbers from the records you already keep, so it stays current without extra work.

Your own address

A web address with the school’s name looks professional and is easy to share on WhatsApp and printed materials. You can use your own domain (for example yourschool.edu.gh) or a free address from your software.

Turn visitors into applications

Put an “Apply now” button on every page that opens an online application form. Every application then arrives in one place with the parent’s phone number, instead of being lost in phone calls.

How Fusadems does it

Every school on Fusadems gets a website, free, at its own address (yourschool.fusadems.com) or on its own domain. Home, About, Admissions, News and Contact pages come ready; you edit them by clicking, and news, events and learner numbers come from your records. “Apply now” opens your online admission form.

Questions schools ask

Does a school in Ghana need a website?

Yes. Most parents look a school up on their phone before they call. A current website with admissions information and an online form brings in applications.

How can a school get a free website?

Some school management systems, including Fusadems, include a website the school edits itself, at its own address, at no extra cost.
