Taking attendance on a phone and texting parents

Marking the register on a phone, showing parents the same day, and sending absence texts that help.

A paper register tells you who was absent weeks ago. A register on a phone tells parents today, while it still matters.

Marking the register

The teacher opens the class on their phone, taps present, late, absent or excused for each learner (or “everyone else present”), and saves. It takes about a minute for a full class.

Seeing patterns

The value is in the pattern: a learner who is late every Monday, or missed three days in a row. Each learner’s last few days should be visible at a glance, and the head should see the whole school’s attendance for the term.

Absence texts

A short text to the parent of a learner marked absent, sent the same afternoon, catches problems early. Keep it factual and polite, and from the school’s name.

How Fusadems does it

Teachers mark the register in the teacher portal; parents see each day and the term’s total in the parent app. With the Automations app, absence texts go out by themselves at 3 pm on school days, and Early Warning picks out learners whose attendance falls below 85% in the last 30 days.

Questions schools ask

Can teachers take attendance on a phone?

Yes. With a school management system, teachers mark each learner present, late, absent or excused on their phone, and parents can see it the same day.
